Pale straw in colour, Coastal White by Jost Vineyards is a true representation of the concept of a fresh ocean breeze. The dominant flavours of lime and granny smith apple combine to offer a clean and vibrant experience that is perfect for when you crave a refreshing white wine.
One thing I find intriguing about this wine is the way in which it blends something new (by using the local hybrid grape varietal L’Acadie Blanc) with something old (the famed Riesling grape) to create a unique white wine blend in Nova Scotia. The result of this delightful fusion is a wine that is crisp and uplifting to help deliciously quench your thirst throughout these warm summer days and nights.
This wine is also perfect to use in acid driven dishes due to the same characteristic (acid) that is present in the Riesling varietal. Mussels are a great option as they are readily available, affordable, and easy to prepare. If you don’t already have a favourite family recipe in mind, pair Coastal White with the simple yet appetizing classic—Nova Scotian mussels steamed in white wine. Serve this easy pairing at your next gathering and your guests will swear they can feel our invigorating maritime air … Cheers!
