Jost Vineyard's Premium Red Wine: Malagash Red is a wine with extraordinary character. This medium-bodied red combines old-world methods with new world innovation. A blend of Marquette and Pinot Noir, Malagash is aged in burgundy barrels.
Complex and intriguing, the nose of the Malagash Red is filled with layers of fruit, leather and oak. Cherry and orange rind aromas are noted initially then notes of fruit cake, subtle oak and some complex earthy notes layer in.
A medium body and a fine texture are integrated with lingering cherry, orange rind and nuanced oak on the palate. The fine structure of this wine carries into the finish of the wine while remaining fresh and food-friendly on the palate.
Malagash Red is complex red made from Nova Scotia grown Marquette and Niagara- grown Pinot Noir. Marquette has a similar elegance and finesse as Pinot Noir and are ideal blending partners. Just under 10% of the Marquette has been dried before fermentation and combined with Marquette that has not been dried for barrel aging. The Pinot Noir was barrel-aged independently and was combined with the Marquette prior to bottling
